Scientific center of
linking tourism and recreation territories research

It was created to extend and expand scientific
research in the development of tourism and recreational activity in
the Donetsk region, with the goal of increasing its social,
ecological and economic efficiency to improve conditions of life of
the population of this industrial region. Head of the Scientific

Odinokov. Creation of the Center in the area of GIS-technologies
is presented on the site www.ditb-ua.narod.ru. The
basic directions of research and goals of the Center: -
organizing and carrying out scientific research to identify,
research, and estimate in detail recreational territories and making
recommendations on their use for the development of sustainable
tourism in the Donetsk region; - identifying social and economic
features of the creation and development of recreational territories
and developing social and economic methods to influence their
attractiveness; - GIS-technologies implantation in the
development of the tourism and recreation activities monitor
system in the Donetsk region. Results of the Scientific Center
work: 1. A technique for estimating recreational territory and
the ecological-recreational passport have been developed and a
monograph has been issued. 2. As part of the Black Sea ecological
program TACIS, the fourth and fifth stages of the pilot project,
“Prospects for the Development of Sustainable Tourism in Yalta on
the Azov Coast”, have been developed. It has been approved by
leading experts of the World Tourist Organization and of travel
agencies in Europe, and received a favorable estimation at the
session of the Council of Europe in Brussels. 3. Under the
coordination of the Industrial Ecological Union “Donbass-Azov Coast
XXI”, a “Program for the Development of Tourism at the Azov Coast
and Within the Limits of the Donetsk Region” has been developed and
referred to the Donetsk State Regional Administration. 4.
Recommendations on optimization of landscape with the use of plants
and small architectural forms have been developed based on the
example of the central part of Urzuf village. 5. Research and
schematic designs for the development of a new theme park
“Trans-Asov legends” outside the security zone of the “Kamennyye
Mogily” reserve were developed and referred to the Reserve’s
Director. A certificate of the copyright registration of this work N
13248 was got. 6. A monograph «Methodology of the recreation
territories estimation»– authors are Valentine Danilchuk, Galina
Alejnikova, Anna Bovsunovskaya, Svetlana
Golubnichaya 7. Suggestions for the improvement of tourist
accommodations, rest and leisure infrastructure, and development of
new tourist routes within the limits of “Sviatyye Gory” National
Park were provided for the project developed by the Management of
City-planning and Architecture of Donetsk and referred to the
Administration of “Sviatyye Gory” National Park. 8. A scientific
study and schematics of the tourist centers creation were carried
out on the territory of a regional landscape park «Kleban-bick»,
«Donetsk Ridge», «Poloveckaya Steppe», outside the nature protection
area of natural preserve «Khomutovskaya Steppe» and also on the
territory of a state forest reserve «Velikoanadolskiy Forest». This
work was executed on the basis of the complex program of tourism
development and resort and recreational industry in 2005 – 2010 and
confirmed with a decision of the the Donetsk Regional Council
session from 15.02.2005 N 4/25 – 583. Results of this work were
passed in the State administration of the Donetsk region.
